Glass blowing and sculpture has been practiced on the island for over 900 years. Generations of glass blowers have honed their craft over the centuries and live and breathe the soot and sweat of the furnaces that belch out smoke 24 hours a day.

Murano glass has a style and a feel like no other. Artists have traveled from all over the world to study in Murano and have brought the craft back to their homes. Still, they can not copy the feel of the glass, the colors, the character of the silica found only in Murano.
